Quercetin and Ellagic Acid. A POTENT Anti-Cancer Therapy Combination

This is going to be a fun essay. I have already talked about quercetin and cancer. Now I am going to cite some evidence that shows quercetin and ellagic acid, a plant derived polyphenol found in high concentrations in red raspberries, are able to synergize with each other at low concentrations to effectively kill cancer cells. This is exciting stuff...

The following is an excellent overview of ellagic acid and an inexpensive source for the product.

You MUST read two different parts of this document. First, read the woman's story who took red raspberry extracts to help her get through chemo for lung and renal cancer. Her comments about her arrogant oncologist, and her utter distain for anything other than chemo are true to life and priceless.

Next, read the Word document prepared from the Chinese supplier of the extract. It is also quite informative.

Onward...

Ellagic acid and quercetin are both natural compounds found together primarily in grapes and berries. They have a synergy as anti-cancer agents when used together that far exceeds their individual potencies.

The following is a great article that you can read online. Note the chart that lists the contents of ellagic and quercetin in certain foods.

This type of natural medicine synergy is exactly what we are always looking for. If either of these natural compounds were being invested by the FDA, they might both be rejected because their potency in certain assays wasn't high enough. However, when used together, the potency increases dramatically. Unfortunately, the FDA only looks at one compound at a time. What a joke...

We don't need the FDA. These are natural medicines and not drugs. I was just making a point about the inefficiency of the US government.

Dosages?

The first URL says that the ellagic capsules should be taken four times a day. Take it eight times a day, 2 capsules each time. If you have cancer, don't waste time.

6 grams, at least, of quercetin dissolved in coconut milk or cream.

Neither pure quercetin or ellagic acid is very soluble in water. No matter, they both probably have numerous sugar molecules attached to them to increase their solubility.

Optimally, both ellagic acid and quercetin should be dissolved in coconut milk. We want these compounds targeted to the lymphatic system...not the blood. Try the ellagic acid in capsules first. If this combination works for you, fine. If not, you can always open the capsules and dump them into the coconut milk with the quercetin.

The rain has stopped. Must get to the store before the next storm.

Stay tuned...

Are L Glutamine and Glutamine Peptide equally effective against cancer? I'm asking because I found Glutamine Peptide listed at SHFnatural.com, but no L-Glutamine, and I need a cheaper source than the local health food store.
Thanks! Merisa

Dr. Steve,
Your link for Ellagic Acid appears to have been put out of business by the FDA! Do you have another source?

Can some shed some light on Ellagic Acid? One site says there is no Ellagic Acid in the pills that Ellagic Acid comes when you eat the fruit. Another site says all studies are with raspberries and the bioavailabilty from other fruits have not been confirmed yet. So what is what?
